Preparing Children's Ears

21 July 2020

Our nurses can remove wax or objects from the ears of young children - but sometimes a little preparation is needed before we see them. This helps make the appointment easier for your child.

Preparing young ears:

Put a few drops of oil into your child's ear at least a couple of nights prior to their appointment, if they tolerate it. Using slightly warmed oil is more comfortable for them.

This preparation helps towards the success of getting all the earwax out in one appointment, but sometimes multiple appointments are required for your child's comfort.

MORE ABOUT KIDS' EARS

"Took my boy there for a couple of years before we moved. Very gentle, and very good with kids. Mine laughed all the way through as the suction machine tickled. The nurse coped with him brilliantly."
